Bible Reading In a Year Notes Genesis 1-3

1-2-23

The act of putting seed in the vegetation is so hopeful (The 3rd day, Genesis 1:11-13)!  Yahweh wouldn’t plant the seed within them without the expectation of fruitfulness, and a hope for the future.  It’s just a beautiful thought!  When I think about this, then go back and re-read of the accounts of creation, the whole scene is so joyous!  It especially gives a different light to the 7th day (Genesis 2:1-3) Verses 1 & 2 say, “And so the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their heavenly lights.  By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” I can just imagine the Father seeing all that He had created those 6 days, marveling at the beauty and all the joy, being hopeful for the time to come.  Then He blessed the 7th day, not because He had toiled in His work and needed rest, but because it was good.

Gen 1:11  Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit according to their kind with seed in them”; and it was so.
Gen 1:12  The earth produced vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, according to their kind; and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:13  And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.

Gen 2:1  And so the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their heavenly lights.
Gen 2:2  By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Gen 2:3  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Gen 2:4  This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made earth and heaven.

I’m taking part in a free online Bible study where we will be going through the Bible in a year put on by seekingscriptures.com.  The Facebook group has closed for new members until next year, so if you would like to go ahead and get signed up for next years study, here is the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/frontporchfellowship/ (Answer the group questions, and then you will be automatically added to the group at the end of the year when the enrollment opens again.)  If you missed the window this year to join, you can still follow along with the daily readings.  Here is a link to the printable schedule for each month.  You can also read or listen to all the notes the website offers on the daily readings by clicking here https://seekingscripture.com/category/bible-study/genesis-diving-deeper/  and selecting the correct link.
